Revitalize Your Style: 5 Steps to Refresh Your Style & Wardrobe

As we usher in a new year, new season, embark upon a new job or life change, it's the perfect time to hit the reset button on our fashion choices and embrace a refreshed, empowered sense of style. Your wardrobe is a powerful tool for self-expression, and updating it can be a fun and exciting process. In this blog post, we'll explore the top ways to revitalize your wardrobe to feel more confident

1. It starts with your current wardrobe

Before any shopping spree it's important to start with what you have to work with and what you love. Identify your current go-to‘s: Head to your wardrobe and flip through it. Find the pieces that you LOVE to wear and feel CONFIDENT in. These are key to your personal style and should be easily findable and accessible in your wardrobe.

2. Define your personal style

Think about your go-to’s and defining your style “vibe” (as we like to call it), in 3 words. How do you want to show up for yourself every day? How would you want someone to describe you after a first impression?

Consider what you want to convey with your style in the coming year. Are you aiming for a more polished and professional look, a laid-back and casual vibe, or a mix of both? Clarifying your style goals will guide your purchasing decisions and create a cohesive wardrobe that aligns with your vision.

Use all the social tools like Pinterest and IG explore pages (or our Prept page!) to figure out what inspires you. Look up your favorite influencers, celebrities, or search words that resemble your personal style to see if resonates with you. Save outfits you love to recreate or for inspiration later.

3. Determine your MVP’s

Wardrobe MVPs that is. The most valuable (& versatile) players in your wardrobe that you can wear many times, many different ways. These are quality, basic pieces that can pair with your go-to’s, other basics, and beyond.

Most of time we find women don’t have enough basics / the basics covered, and this is the biggest reason they have a hard time making outfits! If you need help figuring out what we mean by basics, message us and we created this quiz to help you through these steps, especially this one.

4. Align your style & wardrobe

Pull out pieces that are not your go-to's, MVPs, and...

  • you can’t remember the last time you wore / can’t see yourself wearing

  • you don’t LOVE & feel confident in

  • don't suit your lifestyle

  • don’t align to your style

  • you have to fit into (your clothes should FIT YOU)

  • are not sentimental

Rethink & consider donating/reselling these pieces.

5. Fill in gaps over time

Only put back into your closet what you WANT to stay. There are no rules, it’s not a science, it’s about keeping what suits you so that you enjoy and love your wardrobe over time.

You will likely see some areas now where you are missing things to make outfits. Maybe you got rid of all your jeans that didn’t fit you or realized you have few basics. This is normal! Try to wear what you have, figure out what you need, and shop more intentionally to fill holes over time.

A couple more tips...

You'll absolutely want to consider investing in staple pieces to build a strong foundation for your wardrobe by investing in versatile, timeless pieces. Classic items like a well-fitted blazer, a quality pair of denim, and a white button-down shirt can be mixed and matched to create a variety of stylish outfits. These staples will serve as the backbone of your wardrobe for years to come.

You can (and should) 100% prioritize comfort without sacrificing style! Comfort and style can coexist. Look for clothing that not only looks good but feels good too. Consider fabrics that breathe and move with you, ensuring you're ready to tackle whatever the day brings while looking effortlessly chic.

Experiment! Step out of your comfort zone and try new things to figure out what you love if you're not sure. Try different styles, colors, patterns. This can breathe the new life into your style that you're looking for or help you hone in on what you like (and what you don't).

Accessories are the secret sauce that can elevate any outfit. Invest in a few key accessories like statement jewelry, scarves, or a stylish handbag. These finishing touches can turn a simple ensemble into a fashion statement and provide endless opportunities for personal expression.

As you embark on the journey of refreshing your wardrobe, remember that fashion is a powerful form of self-expression! Embrace the opportunity to redefine your style, experiment with new looks, and feel empowered by the way you present yourself to the world. By incorporating these tips, you'll not only revitalize your wardrobe but also set the stage for feeling like the most confident version of yourself.
