Making time for self-care

Self-care can mean something different to everyone! For me, it's carving out time in my busy week to take care of myself mentally and physically. I usually focus on weekly beauty treatments and self-reflection to prepare for a new week. Here are my favorite products and tips for a relaxing self-care routine!


Weekly Beauty Treatments

Exfoliating: I start by using a gentle scrub or serum. This will remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. It's recommended to do at least 2-3 times a week. I like to start on Sunday and then will apply the product again during the middle of the week.

Hair Mask, Clarifying Shampoo, Leave-in Conditioner: Sunday nights in the shower, I like to use a quality hair mask for my color-treated hair and a cleansing shampoo that will basically detox your scalp and get rid of any flakiness or product residue. I use the mask and shampoo once a week, but love the leave-in conditioner spray for anytime I wash my hair and need help to detangle and add shine. BONUS - all of these hair products smell AMAZING!

Moisturizer & Face Mask: After the shower, I make sure to use a good moisturizer and face mask before heading to bed. This helps my face avoid any dryness overnight and makes your makeup apply so much better in the morning! It's worth noting that I have oily/combination skin, so be sure to keep your skin type in mind when shopping for a moisturizer or face mask.

Weekly Self-Care

Journaling: I've always loved to write, but noticed I stopped taking the time to do it for a while. It can actually be therapeutic to journal before bed and reflect on your day. I recently started writing in a gratitude journal. At first it seemed kind of silly and I didn't think it would shift my mindset - but it works! If you stick to it, you find it naturally becomes part of your routine. The journal even comes with prompts for morning and night so you can stay on track. Comfy Stuff to add to your Self-Care Sunday

Satin Pillow, Cozy Blanket, Essential Oil Diffuser: If you're feeling fancy, add these products to your routine for some extra relaxation! I personally love the way a satin pillowcase keeps my hair in tact at night (no more waking up with crazy or static hair) and I love to turn on my essential oil diffuser if I'm reading or journaling at night.
