Wardrobe Essentials: The White Button Up

Okay ladies, let’s talk about a classic staple, and a Prept crowd favorite- the white button up top. Aside from being neutral, versatile, and let’s face it, a closet MUST have, white button ups can also be paired into almost any style!

For the casual woman on the go, we love to pair a loose fitting top with a pair of comfortable jeans! Now here is where some options come in!-

You can do a French tuck look by tucking in a portion of the top in the front only for an effortless, cool, casual feel:

Or, tie a simple knot at the bottom of the top for a more fitted, cropped look! Both are effortless, breezy, comfortable and totally personalized! Layer some loose necklaces in for a dainty, soft feel, or skip the necklace and go for a classic hoop staple earring!

But what if your day is a little more dressy, a little less casual? A little more edge, a little less prep? Don’t worry girl, we thought of it all! For our working woman on the go, a fall favorite is pairing a white button up with your favorite leather bottoms! Dress it up with a pump for the office, or make it a casual edge look with a sneaker or bootie for a picturesque day of apple picking!

Okay so we have classic, preppy, edgy.. what about a more effortless Tom boy look? Or casual boho?Another favorite we’re seeing a lot of this season is the Shacket! A perfect balance between a shirt & a jacket which adds a casual, warm layer on those light fall days! For this look, grab an over sized white button up and layer it open on top of your favorite casual basics like a tank & pair of jeans:

We’re absolutely loving the shacket trend with tons of options in elevating your fall style with thicker, warmer button up tops! Check out this cool, comfortable white button up shacket styled with a French tuck, jeans and some cute warm brown fall accessories for that casual boho feel:

Last, maybe a professional or fitted white button up look is more your style. Or possibly you have more of preppy vibe. Go for a more tailored option and tuck in fully or leverage a french tuck! Play with a material and leverage a silkier and nicer fabric for a more elevated and upscale look. You can also pair a blazer over the shoulders or sweater tied around the shoulders.

Or try out a button up as a dress! Longer white button up options can also be great for a coverup.

Which style is your favorite way to wear your white button up? Or will you try them all before fall is up?! We know we’re going to! Check below for links to some of our favorite, classic button ups!
